DATRED

 
Performs data reduction for spline curves and tensor-product spline surfaces.
In particular, removes knots from (and optionally reduces the order of) a given
B-spline curve (or surface) to produce an approximating B-spline within a
specified tolerance of the original. (See T. Lyche and K. Moerken, CAGD 4 (1987)
pp. 217-230.).
