Java Notes and Problems

Note: Java promises a lot; platform-independence, etc, but it is still a little rough around the edges. The previous version of HotGAMS suffered a number of problems, particularly with the user-interface on Windows systems. This revision hopefully has fixed, or worked around, all of these problems. In particular, it seems to work well under Netscape Navigator 3.0 beta 6 and 7 on Windows 95, Windows NT, Irix 5.3 and SunOS, and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0 (final) on Windows 95 and using HotJava 1.0 prebeta on Windows NT.

Some particular implementation issues are listed below.
